MELBOURNE - Apr 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge across to northern Victoria while a cold front will move across Bass Strait and southern Victoria this afternoon and evening. The high will then move across southern Victoria and Bass Strait late Sunday and will be located over the Tasman Sea on Monday. The next front will enter southwest Victoria later Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning fog patches. Isolated showers developing along the southwest coast during the late morning, extending to remaining southern and mountain areas during the afternoon and evening. Dry and mostly sunny over the northern plains. Mild with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, strengthening in the south and tending cooler southwesterly late afternoon or evening.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Sunday 29 AprilIsolated showers over Gippsland and the central coast, contracting to East Gippsland during the morning and clearing in the afternoon. Fine and mainly sunny in the west and north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at first about Gippsland.Monday 30 AprilEarly fog and frost patches then fine and mainly sunny. Mild to warm with light to moderate northerly winds and afternoon seabreezes about the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 1 MayEarly morning fog patches over Gippsland. Cloud increasing from the west with scattered showers developing in the southwest during the afternoon, extending to northwestern and central areas later in the evening.
