MELBOURNE - Apr 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge across to northern Victoria. A cold front over the Southern Ocean will cross Bass Strait on Saturday. The high pressure system will then move across southern Victoria and Bass Strait late Sunday and will be located over the Tasman Sea on Monday as the next front crosses waters south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts mostly clearing by late afternoon. Areas of fog over the northeast, otherwise fine and mostly sunny over the north. Generally cool with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Saturday 28 AprilScattered showers along the southwest coast extending to remaining southern and mountain areas during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny over the northern plains. Mild west to northwesterly winds tending cooler southwesterly during the day and strengthening.Sunday 29 AprilIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, contracting east during the early morning and clearing in the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool, light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 30 AprilEarly fog patches then fine and mainly sunny.
