Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system off the New South Wales coast is weakening as it moves away towards New Zealand today. The next high pressure system will remain near the Bight on Thursday and Friday and will extend a ridge across to northern Victoria. A cold front will cross Bass Strait on Saturday and the high pressure system will be located to the south of Adelaide later in the day. The high will move across southern Victoria and Bass Strait on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers in the south, tending more isolated over mountain districts. Patchy drizzle possible over the northwest this morning. Fine but generally cloudy elsewhere in the north. Cool with moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times over elevated areas and near the coast.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Friday 27 AprilIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts mostly clearing later. Fine over the northern plains after morning fog patches. Generally cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Saturday 28 AprilIsolated showers developing in southern and mountain areas. Fine over the northern plains. Mild west to northwesterly winds tending cooler southwesterly during the day and strengthening.Sunday 29 AprilIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, contracting east and clearing in the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool, light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
