MELBOURNE - Apr 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An extensive cloud band across northeastern NSW will move very slowly today bringing areas of rain to northeast. Meanwhile a cold front will move through the west and southeast of the state before weakening over the northeast later on Tuesday. The passage of the cold front will help contract the cloud band out of NSW. Behind the front a pool of cold air will push up over the southeast of NSW and low pressure system is expected to develop off the south coast late Tuesday into Wednesday. By Thursday the low will have moved into the Tasman Sea as a high pressure system becomes established over the region. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPartly cloudy in the west. Rain areas in the northeast. Isolated showers in the southeast and far southern inland tending scattered on the Alps and falling as snow late in the day above 1400 metres. South to southwest winds extending throughout.Wednesday 25 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast, tending scattered on the Alps with snow showers above 1600 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwesterly winds, gusty near south and central coasts.Thursday 26 AprilIsolated clearing showers on the Alps. Partly cloudy in the remainder. South to southwesterly winds.Friday 27 AprilIsolated showers in the far northeast, possibly extending southwards to the Central Coast. The chance of isolated showers on the far southern ranges and western slopes. Fine elsewhere.
