Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
On Monday an extensive cloud band across northern and central NSW will bring areas of rain, meanwhile a cold front will move through the west and southeast of the state before weakening over the northeast on Tuesday. The passage of the cold front will help contract the cloudband out of NSW. Behind the front a pool of cold air will push up over the southeast of NSW and low pressure system is expected to develop off the south coast late Tuesday into Wednesday. By Thursday the low will have moved into the Tasman Sea and a high pressure system become established over the region.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas over the eastern half of the NSW, most widespread over the northern inland. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Partly cloudy in the west. Northwest to northeasterly winds turning southwesterly in the west and southeast.Tuesday 24 AprilPartly cloudy in the west. Rain areas in the northeast, isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the Alps and falling as snow above 1600 metres. South to southwest winds extending throughout.Wednesday 25 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast, tending scattered on the Alps with snow showers above 1600 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwesterly winds, gusty near south and central coasts.Thursday 26 AprilIsolated clearing showers on the Alps. Partly cloudy in the remainder. South to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
