MELBOURNE - Apr 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low and associated front are approaching Tasmania and will slip away to the south of Tasmania tonight. A stronger cold front will approach southwestern Victoria overnight and will then move across the State during Monday, while another low pressure system develops over Tasmania. The new low will move across Bass Strait during Tuesday and then away over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight. Another cold front will approach Tasmania late on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers mainly about the ranges and the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms contracting to the east and clearing. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Monday 23 AprilScattered showers extending eastwards. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing over southwestern and eastern districts. Moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges, shifting westerly from the west.Fire Danger - High in the northwest.Tuesday 24 AprilShowers, tending to rain areas over most southern and mountain districts. Snow falling above 1200m about the ranges. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong near the southwest coast.Wednesday 25 AprilScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, falling as snow about the alpine areas and clearing in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Thursday 26 AprilIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, becoming scattered in the far east.
