MELBOURNE - Apr 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system well south of South Australia is moving southeastwards. A cold front will be positioned over southern coasts late Sunday evening, and move steadily eastwards over the agricultural area on Monday morning. A high will move in from the west following the front, to be centred over the Bight on Wednesday, where it will stay on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms near southern coasts in the evening. Patchy rain in the far north. Cool to mild. Light winds in the north and moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds in the south, strong at times over southern coasts.Monday 23 AprilPatchy rain in the far north clearing by evening. Scattered showers extending over the agricultural area, with isolated showers over the south of the Pastoral districts. Isolated thunderstorms and possible small hail developing over the southern agricultural area and Murraylands district, although thunderstorms contracting to Kangaroo Island and the South East district early morning. Cool to cold over the agricultural area, and cool to mild over the remainder. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh to strong at times near the coasts.Tuesday 24 AprilIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast, scattered in the Lower South East. Cool to cold over the agricultural area, and cool to mild over the remainder. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh at times near southeastern coasts.Wednesday 25 AprilIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Thursday 26 April Isolated showers near southern coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon until midnight Thursday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm in the far north, 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm about southern coasts and ranges, and possibly 20 to 30 mm in the far southeast. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere. Friday until SundayIsolated showers near southern coasts, temporarily extending into the southern agricultural area on Saturday.
