Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low and associated front are located over the Bight and will slip away to the south of Tasmania today. A stronger cold front will approach southwestern Victoria Sunday evening and will then move across the state during Monday, while another low pressure system develops over Tasmania. The low will move across Bass Strait during Tuesday and then away over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending to rain areas over the ranges and in the north, contracting to eastern districts by the evening. Showers more isolated over East Gippsland and in the northwest and redeveloping in the southwest this evening. Morning fog patches over Gippsland. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly from the west.Fire Danger -  High in western and central districts.Monday 23 AprilScattered showers. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast in the morning. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing over eastern districts. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges, shifting colder and gusty southwesterly from the west.Tuesday 24 AprilShowers, tending to rain areas over most southern and mountain districts. Snow falling above 1200m about the ranges. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong near the southwest coast.Wednesday 25 AprilScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, falling as snow about the alpine areas and becoming isolated in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
