Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough off the New South Wales coast is likely to weaken on Monday. A strong, slow moving high centred over New Zealand will maintain a ridge to the state's far northeast until Tuesday. A broad low pressure trough is expected to enter the far west today and move across the state on Monday and Tuesday with an associated cold front, spreading rain and showers to most of districts. Showers will linger in the east of Wednesday due to passing upper disturbance.
Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly fog areas in the east. Light patchy rain in the west, extending to central and southeastern districts during the day, and tending to rain areas in the far southeastern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast to northwesterly winds, turning southwesterly in the far southwest later.Monday 23 AprilLight rain in the in the central and eastern parts, heavier over the northeastern inland. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms on the western slopes. Partly cloudy in the far west. Northwest to northeasterly winds turning southwesterly in the west and southeast.Tuesday 24 AprilPartly cloudy in the far west. Light rain in the northeast, isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the Alps and falling as snow above 1600 metres. South to southwest winds extending throughout. remainder.Wednesday 25 AprilIsolated showers in the eastern half, with snow showers on the Alps above 1600 metres.. Partly cloudy in the west.
