MELBOURNE - Apr 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over located over New Zealand. A low pressure system and associated front will move across the Bight to approach western Victoria tonight. The low and front will slip away to the south during Sunday, weakening as it moves across Victoria. A stronger cold front will move across the State during Monday and a low pressure system will develop over central Bass Strait on Tuesday. The low should move east of Tasmania on Wednesday as a high pressure system moves into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers about the far east ranges and developing over the west possibly reaching central districts later this evening. Fine elsewhere. Light wind tending moderate north to northwesterly over western districts. Evening seabreezes along the central and Gippsland coast.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers tending to rain areas over the northeast ranges. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible over central districts. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly from the west.Fire Danger - High in western and central districts.Monday 23 AprilScattered showers. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast in the morning. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing over eastern districts. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges, shifting colder and gusty southwesterly from the west.Tuesday 24 AprilIsolated showers, tending to rain areas over most southern and mountain districts. Snow falling above 1200m about the ranges. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong near the southwest coast.Wednesday 25 AprilScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, falling as snow about the alpine areas and becoming isolated in the north.
