MELBOURNE - Apr 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A series of cold fronts will move over South Australia over the next few days. A high pressure system is then expected to move to a position south of the Bight next week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA band of patchy rain will move across central and eastern parts of the State except for the area northeast of Oodnadatta to Broken Hill this evening. Chance of thunderstorms about coastal districts. A wind change following the rain will bring isolated showers and possible thunderstorms to western districts, increasing to scattered showers over the western coast of Eyre Peninsula in the evening. Becoming milder following the change. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, strong about parts of the coast, shifting west to southwesterly in the west following the change.Sunday 22 AprilPatchy rain continuing north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers over agricultural areas and western districts, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms about coastal areas during the day. Cool to mild with light winds in the north and moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong at times over southern coasts.Monday 23 AprilPatchy rain clearing from the far north. Isolated showers extending over the agricultural area and southern Pastoral districts. Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms over the southern agricultural area, increasing to widespread showers about southern coasts. Generally cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds moderating later in the day.Tuesday 24 April Isolated showers about the southern agricultural areas and the West Coast, scattered at first about the southern coasts. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds. Wednesday 25 April Isolated showers about coastal areas. Cool to mild with moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm about southern agricultural areas and western coasts, increasing to 10 to 20 mm about southern coasts and ranges. Less than 5 mm is expected elsewhere. Thursday until Saturday Isolated showers about coastal areas extending over agricultural areas late in the period. Cool to mild with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.
