MELBOURNE - Apr 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over locate over New Zealand. A low pressure system and associated front will move across the Bight to approach western Victoria Saturday night. The low and front will slip away to the south during Sunday, weakening as it moves across Victoria. A stronger cold front south of the Bight will move across the State during Monday and then develop into a low pressure system over east Bass Strait on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of morning fog and low cloud. Isolated showers about the far east ranges and developing over the west possibly reaching central districts later this evening. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm with light wind tending moderate north to northwesterly over western districts. Afternoon seabreezes along the central and Gippsland coast.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate reaching High in the Wimmera and the Southwest.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers tending to rain areas over the northeast ranges. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible over the northern inland. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly from the west.Monday 23 AprilScattered showers. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast in the morning. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing over eastern districts. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges, shifting colder and gusty southwesterly from the west.Tuesday 24 AprilIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain areas tending more widespread over Gippsland and the eastern ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1700m.
