MELBOURNE - Apr 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough of low pressure along southern coasts and will move slowly inland during this evening . A series of cold fronts will move over southern South Australia during the weekend and into Monday. A high pressure system is then expected to move to a position south of the Bight next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayCloud increasing in the far west with some patchy rain developing, then extending to west of Tarcoola to Kingscote by late evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, tending moderate southeasterly near southern and far western coasts. A cooler moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change extending across the west.Saturday 21 AprilSome patchy rain extending across the State except for the area northeast of Oodnadatta to Broken Hill. A wind change following the rain will bring isolated showers and possible thunderstorms to western districts, increasing to scattered showers over the western coast of Eyre Peninsula. Warm to hot in the northeast, but becoming milder over the remainder. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, strong about parts of the coast, shifting southwest to west in the west following the change.Sunday 22 AprilPatchy rain contracting to north of Coober Pedy during the morning. Isolated showers persisting over southern agricultural areas and western districts, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms about ocean coasts during the evening. Cool to mild with light winds in the north and moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong at times over southern coasts.Monday 23 AprilPatchy rain clearing from the far north. Isolated showers extending over the agricultural area and southern Pastoral districts, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms over the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds turning southerly later in the day and moderating.Tuesday 24 April Isolated showers about coastal areas. Cool to mild with moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon until midnight Tuesday are expected to be up to 5, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area and northwest of Coober Pedy. Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers about coastal areas.
