Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system approaching the Bight tonight will move eastwards to be south of South Australia by late Saturday then move southwards on Sunday. An associated prefrontal trough will approach western Victoria late Saturday before moving across the State on Sunday. The associated cold front is forecast to reach western Victoria Monday morning and be east of the State by early Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over the east and south with isolated evening thunderstorms over the southeast and eastern ranges. Light winds tending southwest to southerly near the coast.Saturday 21 AprilAreas of morning fog. Isolated showers developing over the far west possibly reaching central districts later in the day. Isolated showers also possible near the far eastern ranges but fine elsewhere. Mild to warm with light wind tending moderate north to northwesterly over western districts. Afternoon seabreezes along the central and Gippsland coast.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate reaching High in the Wimmera and the Southwest.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers tending to rain areas over the northeast ranges. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible over the northern inland. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly from the west.Monday 23 AprilScattered showers. Showers tending to rain areas over the northeast in the morning. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing over eastern districts. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges, shifting colder and gusty southwesterly from the west.Tuesday 24 AprilIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain areas tending more widespread over Gippsland and the eastern ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1700m. Cool with light to moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
