MELBOURNE - Apr 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high near New Zealand extends a ridge over South Australia. A trough of low pressure in the west will move eastwards to be positioned near southern coasts tonight and on Friday. A cold front will extend from the west of the State on Saturday, reaching eastern parts early on Sunday. Another front will move over the southern agricultural area on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from the chance of isolated showers west of Fowlers Bay. A warm evening with light winds, turning moderate southerly over the Nullarbor Plain.Friday 20 AprilPossible isolated showers in the far west, extending to Tarcoola to Port Lincoln by late evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, tending southeasterly near southern coasts. A cooler moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change extending across the west.Saturday 21 AprilIsolated showers extending across the State except for the area northeast of Oodnadatta to Renmark. Showers increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area. Isolated thunderstorms developing near southern coasts and over Western districts. Warm to hot in the northeast, but becoming milder over the remainder. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, shifting southwest to west in the west.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers over most districts, increasing to scattered near southern and western coasts late evening. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Monday 23 AprilIsolated showers over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area. Isolated showers in the far north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to south winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon until midnight Monday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm, reaching 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, locally scattered over the southern agricultural area on Tuesday.
