Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the south Tasman Sea will drift over New Zealand and remain there for a number of days. Meanwhile, an upper disturbance over southern New South Wales will drift over northeastern Victoria on Friday before weakening and moving away to the southeast. A cold front will approach western Victoria later on Saturday before slipping away to the southeast early on Sunday. Another stronger cold front will approach from the southwest later on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine in the west. Isolated showers elsewhere increasing to scattered in the far east. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far north and east. Generally light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Thursday 19 AprilAreas of rain over eastern areas with isolated showers elsewhere but fine over the far west. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly near and north of the ranges. A mild to warm and humid day with a light to moderate northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Locally high in the southwest.Friday 20 AprilPartly cloudy with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over central and eastern districts, mainly during the afternoon and on the ranges. Fine in the west. Isolated morning fog patches. Warm with light to moderate east to northeast winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 21 AprilIsolated showers developing over western areas with isolated showers possible near the eastern ranges. Mild to warm with a freshening north to northwesterly wind.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers tending to rain areas over the northeast ranges. A mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northerly winds tending westerly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
