Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow moving low pressure trough near NSW coast will continue to generate locally heavy rain in coastal areas today while cooler air in the upper atmosphere is bringing isolated Isolatshowers and possible thunderstorms to Riverina and parts of adjacent areas. Northwestern parts are dominated by high pressure ridge. Both the coastal trough and the ridge will weaken by Friday as a frontal system approaches from the west.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the east with locally heavy falls and possible thunderstorms for coastal districts south of Coffs Harbour and eastern parts of central and southern ranges. Rain areas easing to isolated showers and possible thunderstorms from eastern parts of the Lower Western through to the South West Slopes. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong in the east. Dangerous surf conditions.Friday 20 AprilPartly cloudy in the western half. Isolated showers in the east tending scattered on the coastal fringe in the far north and far south. Morning fog areas in the east. Light winds tending north to northeasterly on the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Saturday 21 AprilIsolated showers on the north and central coasts and ranges tending scattered near the northern coast. The chance of showers in the southern inland. Partly elsewhere. Morning fog areas in the east. Light winds tending north to northeasterly on the coast.Sunday 22 AprilIsolated showers possible in most districts, more likely in the southwest. Light to moderate winds, chiefly northeast to northwesterly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
