MELBOURNE - Apr 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the southern Tasman sea extends a ridge over South Australia. A trough of low pressure will move into the far west of the State on Thursday, reach Port Lincoln late Friday and move across central parts on Saturday. A series of cold fronts will move across southern parts of the State over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from possible isolated showers developing near the western border late evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeast winds and afternoon sea breezes.Thursday 19 AprilFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunder developing west of Ceduna to Port Lincoln during the day. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds and coastal sea breezes, turning moderate southerly over the Nullarbor Plain.Friday 20 AprilIsolated showers extending to be west of Coober Pedy to Port Lincoln by evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms about western coastal areas. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a cooler moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change extending across the west.Saturday 21 AprilIsolated showers extending across the State except the far northeast. Possible isolated thunderstorms over western and southern parts. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds in the north and east, ahead of a milder southwest to southeast change extending across central parts.Sunday 22 April Isolated showers extending throughout, then clearing from northwestern parts during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms over western and southern districts. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be up 2 to 5 mm, reaching 5 to 10 mm about western and central districts. Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over southern and eastern parts, contracting to the agricultural districts late in the period.
