MELBOURNE - Apr 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over eastern Victoria will weaken while a high pressure system will pass to the south of the State overnight. This high will strengthen to the southeast of Tasmania on Tuesday and Wednesday before drifting over New Zealand on Thursday. A cold front will approach the Bight on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayMostly cloudy with isolated showers or drizzle patches in the south and the chance of thunderstorms about the Gippsland ranges. Clear in the west and northern inland. Chiefly light to moderate southwest to southeast windsTuesday 17 AprilAreas of morning fog or drizzle about the ranges and southern districts. Then a fine and mainly sunny afternoon over much of the state apart from isolated showers over Gippsland, mainly in the far east. A mild to warm day with generally light east to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast and in the east during the afternoon.Fire Danger - High in the southwest, low to moderate elsewhere.Wednesday 18 AprilFine apart from isolated showers in the far east and early morning fog or drizzle patches in the south. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 19 AprilCloud increasing across the north with isolated showers over eastern districts, becoming scattered in the far northeast. Morning fogs about the ranges and in the south.
