MELBOURNE - Apr 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system centred over southeast New South Wales extends a ridge over most of the state. An upper level trough extends into the northwest of the state during Saturday. Later on Saturday a cold front is forced to the south of Australia due to the strength of the high, however the southern-most parts of the coast may see a brief southerly developing behind an associated trough. The high will move slowly towards New Zealand over the next few days, but a strong ridge remains over the state. A trough will begin to develop off the north coast later on Sunday or early Monday in the easterlies along the north of the ridge. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers about the northern coast, less likely over the eastern parts of adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 14 AprilIsolated showers about the northern coast, less likely over the ranges. The chance of patchy light rain in the far northwest. Fine with cloud increasing elsewhere. Early fog patches in the east. Northeast to northwest winds.Sunday 15 AprilIsolated showers in the northeast, less likely over the slopes and plains and tending scattered on the coast north of Taree. Fine and partly cloudy along the coast and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog patches in the east. Northeast to northwest winds, tending more east to southeasterly in northern and eastern parts of the state later.Monday 16 AprilIsolated showers in the northeast, less likely over the slopes and plains and tending scattered on the coast north of Taree. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms on the North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands. Isolated showers extending into the Upper Hunter and central parts of the coast later. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mostly south to southeasterly winds, tending light and variable in the south.Tuesday 17 AprilIsolated showers over the ranges and coastal districts, less likely in the south, and tending scattered on the coast Hunter district and northward. The chance of showers extending to the North West Slopes and Plains. Fine and sunny elsewhere.
