Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough lies across northeastern New South Wales, while a cold front moves over the southeast. This cold front may bring a little snow to Alpine areas this evening, before it continues to central parts of the coast overnight and northern parts on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a strengthening high pressure system south of the Bight is drifting slowly east, extending a ridge into the state's west. The high is expected to be the dominant synoptic feature during the next few days, maintaining a fine and stable atmosphere over most districts as shower activity becomes limited coastal parts.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers and thunderstorms over the northeast, easing. Isolated showers and possible thunder in the southeast, mainly near the Victorian border, with the chance of late snow showers on the Alps. The chance of showers extending to central parts of the coast overnight. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the far northeast. South to southwesterly winds elsewhere, fresh to strong about parts of the coast.Tuesday 10 AprilIsolated showers along the coastal fringe, mainly about the Hunter and Mid North Coasts. The chance of early showers and snow flurries about the southern ranges, mainly on the Alps. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh southerly winds, strong and gusty about the coast.Wednesday 11 AprilThe chance of showers about the central and northern coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the coastal fringe between Port Macquarie and Newcastle. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty about the northern coast.Thursday 12 AprilIsolated showers on the northern and central coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the North Coast. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, tending light and variable across the southern inland.Friday 13 AprilThe chance of showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, and light and variable winds inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
