MELBOURNE - Apr 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies through the northeast of the state as a high pressure ridge extends from the Bight over the west of the state. Later this afternoon a cold front and stronger southerly change will enter the far southeast of the state, with cooler air reaching central parts of the state Monday night or early Tuesday. The high pressure ridge will strengthen over the state on Tuesday and Wednesday with the cooler southerly airstream reaching the northern half of of the coast and adjacent ranges on Tuesday as the cold front moves offshore into the Tasman Sea. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast, mainly afternoon. Isolated showers in the southeast, mainly on the southern coast and ranges with the chance of late snow on the Alpine areas. Isolated showers extending to central parts of the coastal fringe overnight. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Northerly winds in the far northeast, cooler southerlies across the remainder.Tuesday 10 AprilThe chance of showers on the coastal fringe during the day and adjacent ranges in the far south and far north, mainly during the morning. The chance of snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Southerly winds.Wednesday 11 AprilThe chance of showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the coastal fringe between Port Macquarie and Newcastle. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Thursday 12 AprilThe chance of showers on the northern and central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the North Coast. Fine elsewhere.
