MELBOURNE - Apr 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over the Southern Ocean will cross southern Victoria overnight Sunday and early Monday. A high pressure system will then move from the Bight to be centred near southwestern Victoria by late Tuesday and will slowly move across the state on Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the southwest extending to the central district this evening. Moderate westerly winds, fresh near the coast and tending southwesterly over the southwest.Monday 9 AprilScattered showers extending over southern and mountain districts with local hail possible. Isolated thunderstorms over the southeast during the afternoon. Isolated showers extending over the northern plains during the afternoon, though remaining dry in the northwest. Showers falling as snow above 1100m. Cool, fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Fire Danger - High to Very High in the west, generally low to moderate elsewhere.Tuesday 10 AprilIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, scattered in the far east at first with isolated thunderstorms and local hail. Showers falling as snow above 1200m during the morning and contracting the the coast during the afternoon and evening. Cool with early frost patches in the north and moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, easing from the west.Wednesday 11 AprilFine apart from isolated showers over east Gippsland and the central coast, clearing by the afternoon. Generally mild and becoming sunny with light south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 12 AprilFine apart from morning fog patches over Gippsland.
