Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough is currently moving across the interior of the state. This trough will enter the far south coast tonight before stalling on the North Coast and inland northeast on Monday as a high pressure ridge extends from the Bight over the west of the state. Later Monday afternoon a cold front and stronger southerly change are due to enter the far southeast of the state, with cooler air reaching central parts of the state Monday night or early Tuesday. The high pressure ridge will strengthen over the state on Tuesday and Wednesday with the cooler southerly airstream reaching the northern half of of the coast and adjacent ranges as the cold front moves offshore into the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPartly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms over northern and central inland. Cloudy with isolated showers for Mid North Coast and Hunter districts with drizzle patches on the central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change developing over the western and central parts.Monday 9 AprilIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the northeast, mainly afternoon. Possible showers in the southeast, more likely on the southern ranges with the chance of late snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the far northeast, cooler southerlies across the remainder.Tuesday 10 AprilThe chance of showers on the coastal fringe during the day and adjacent ranges in the far south and far north, mainly during the morning. The chance of snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Southerly winds.Wednesday 11 AprilThe chance of showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the coastal fringe between Port Macquarie and Newcastle. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Thursday 12 AprilThe chance of showers on the northern and central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the North Coast. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds, tending light and variable in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Monday.Product IDN10031
