Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will continue to move away from New South Wales coast across the southern Tasman Sea with an associated trough weakening in the northeast. Another trough will move across the state on Sunday, triggering isolated shower and thunderstorm activity over the central and northeastern parts. The trough will become slow moving on Monday and continue to generate some showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. A cold front is likely to reach the far southeast later on Monday, bringning showers, more likely to the southern ranges with snow possible on the Alpine peaks, mostly on Tuesday. A high pressure ridge will strengthen over the state on Tuesday and Wednesday with cooler southerly airstream and shower activity contracting to the northern half of of the coast and adjacent ranges.

East to northeasterly winds in the far northeast, southerlies across the remainder.Sunday 8 AprilThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over the parts of northeast and parts of northern and central inland with showers more likely on the Mid North Coast. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change developing over the western and central parts.Monday 9 AprilIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the northeast, mainly afternoon. Possible showers in the southeast, more likely on the southern ranges with the chance of late snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the far northeast, cooler southerlies across the remainder.Tuesday 10 AprilThe chance of showers on the coastal fringe during the day and adjacent ranges in the far south and far north, mainly during the morning. The chance of snow on the Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. Southerly winds.Wednesday 11 April
The chance of showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on the coastal fringe between Port Macquarie and Newcastle. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.
