MELBOURNE - Apr 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will weaken over the State tonight as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will move eastwards across Victoria during Friday, introducing a cooler southwesterly flow that will persist for the remainder of the weekend. Another cold front will move over southern Victoria later on Sunday. A strong high pressure system will move into the Bight on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine and clear. Light winds and weakening seabreezes.Friday 6 AprilEarly fog patches in the east. Warm to hot day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly change extending from the southwest during the afternoon and reaching eastern districts in the evening and at night. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing from the west near and following the change.Fire Danger - High to very high in central and western districts.Saturday 7 AprilScattered showers in the east at first. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts contracting to the coast and clearing during the day. Generally cool with fresh southwesterly winds easing.Sunday 8 AprilIsolated showers in the southwest extending to remaining central and southern districts at night. Generally cool with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, freshening near the coast.Monday 9 AprilIsolated showers mainly southern and mountain districts, becoming scattered in the southeast.
