MELBOURNE - Apr 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system lies near New Caledonia, while a high pressure ridge extends from south of New Zealand towards central parts of the New South Wales coast. A region of cooler air in the upper atmosphere over the Mid North Coast which produced some thunderstorms there today is now moving away from the coast. The low pressure system is expected to move slowly towards the north island of New Zealand through the week and the ridge of high pressure should persist through central New South Wales. Cold fronts moving across the Southern Ocean are expected to reach their peak south of the Bight before slipping away to the southeast with little effect on the state before late Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms on the north coast, clearing. Isolated showers over the far southwest. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, with light and variable winds inland.Tuesday 3 AprilEarly morning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers about the far southeast and the far north coast, otherwise fine. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, and south to southwesterly winds elsewhere.Wednesday 4 AprilIsolated showers about the southern half of the ranges and the far south coast in the afternoon. Isolated showers on the far north coast. Fine elsewhere. Generally southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 5 AprilIsolated showers over the far southern ranges and over the northeast corner. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 6 AprilIsolated showers over the southern ranges and the north coast. Isolated showers developing over the southwest ahead of a late southwest change.
