MELBOURNE - Mar 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move across eastern Victoria this evening. A high pressure system will move rapidly southeastwards across Victoria during Sunday, then another cold front will reach southwest Victoria late Monday. The front will weaken as it moves eastwards across Victoria during Tuesday, then a high pressure ridge will develop across Victoria on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over central parts, clearing southeastwards. Isolated showers near the southwest coast. Warm at first in the east with moderate north to northwesterly winds, but cooler west to southwesterly winds elsewhere gradually extending further east.Sunday 1 AprilIsolated showers in the east, becoming more widespread about the eastern ranges during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms. Isolated showers in the south, contracting eastwards. Fine over the northwest. Cool and mostly cloudy in the south, but milder and mostly sunny north of the divide. Generally light to moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Monday 2 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast clearing. Isolated showers developing in the southwest later. Local morning fog in the south. An otherwise fine, mild to warm and mostly day with light winds tending moderate northerly, and afternoon seabreezes near the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 3 AprilIsolated showers developing in southern and mountain areas in the morning, then contracting eastward. Fine, warm to hot and mostly sunny in the north. Milder and mostly cloudy in the south. Mild to warm at first with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind. Generally light winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 4 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast, contracting eastwards. Morning fog patches in the south. Fine in the north.
