For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A high southeast of New Zealand extends a ridge along Queensland's east
coast. A weak ridge also lies over Central Australia. Both highs are
maintaining a flow of dry air over most of Queensland. A broad area of low
pressure lies over the Solomon Sea.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Fine over most of the state, except for some isolated showers along the east
coast, and scattered showers over the northern reaches of Cape York Peninsula.
Moderate to fresh S to SE winds along the east coast. Mostly light to moderate
SE to NE winds elsewhere.
Forecast for Sunday
A weakening ridge along the southeast coast of Queensland, and the dry air
over the interior, will maintain fine conditions over most of the state, except
for some isolated showers about the east coast and over Cape York Peninsula and
the Torres Strait islands. Temperatures at or below the seasonal average,
particularly in the morning.
Forecast for Monday
The ridge along the east coast should continue to weaken. A low to mid level
high over central Australia should maintain the dry and fine conditions over
most of Queensland. Only isolated showers along the southern Queensland coast
and over the northern reaches of the Peninsula district. Overnight temperatures
at or below the seasonal average.
Forecast for Tuesday
A weak high over central Australia is expected to maintain the dry and fine
conditions over most of Queensland, except for some isolated showers over the
northern reaches of the Peninsula district. Above average daytime temperatures.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
A weak ridge will persist over central Australia late in the week,
maintaining fine and dry conditions over most of the state. A weak surface
trough may form over the southeast interior, allowing humidity to gradually
increase and showers to develop about the central and southeast coasts and
nearby inland areas. Showers and thunderstorms possibly extending inland to the
Central Highlands district late in the week.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Saturday.
