MELBOURNE - Mar 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous unstable southwesterly airflow will continue tonight. On Saturday a high pressure system will move over the Bight and extend a ridge across to northern Victoria. The high will then move slowly eastwards on Sunday to reach Victoria on Monday before drifting to the Tasman Sea during Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas and isolated showers reaching some northern parts. Local hail in the south. Snow above 1400 metres. A cool to cold day with a strong and gusty southwesterly wind extending throughout.Saturday 24 MarchIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread near the coast at first, contracting towards the coast during the afternoon. Isolated showers possible in the northwest. A cool day with a moderating southwesterly wind.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate.Sunday 25 MarchFine apart from isolated showers near the coast, clearing during the day. A mild day with light to moderate south to southwesterly wind.Monday 26 MarchFine. A mild and mostly sunny day with light winds inland and moderate southwest to southerly winds developing in the south.Tuesday 27 MarchFine.
