Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough and associated southerly change will stall and weaken over northeast New South Wales today. A tropical low over Queensland is forecast to move toward the Tasman Sea during the next day or two, and will bring some rain to the northern border districts. Meanwhile, a cold front approaching from the Southern Ocean is expected to affect New South Wales during Friday and Saturday. This front will bring cooler southwesterly winds across the region, but negligible rainfall due to the dryness of the incoming air mass. Following this, a high pressure ridge will extend across the state during the weekend, maintaining mostly fine, although cool, weather throughout.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the northeast, chiefly near the Queensland border. Isolated showers or drizzle patches about remaining eastern districts, clearing from the south. Fine and mostly sunny over the western inland. Southwest to southeast winds.Friday 23 MarchPatchy rain in the far northeast, clearing. Isolated showers about western slopes of the southern ranges, with the chance of snow flurries about the peaks. Fine and mostly sunny through the remainder. Southeast to northeast winds in the far northeast. Northwesterly winds elsewhere, turning cool and gusty west to southwesterly.Saturday 24 MarchIsolated showers about western slopes of the far southern ranges, and on the far north coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost patches on the southern ranges. South to southwesterly winds easing.Sunday 25 MarchFine and sunny apart from isolated showers along the northern coast.
