MELBOURNE - Mar 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred to the west of Victoria will continue to move slowly eastwards, crossing Tasmania on Sunday and the Tasman Sea on Monday. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Monday, reaching southwestern Victoria late on Tuesday, then moving eastwards across the remainder of Victoria on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from isolated light showers in south Gippsland. Clear in the north and partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 18 MarchFine apart from isolated light showers in east Gippsland, clearing during the afternoon. A cool to mild day, sunny in the north but partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Locally high in the west.Monday 19 MarchFine apart from isolated showers in the far east and some early fog patches in Gippsland. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with a light to moderate northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Tuesday 20 MarchFine for most of the day with warm freshening northerly wind. A band of rain reaching the southwest later in the afternoon and evening. A cooler, gusty southwesterly change accompanying the rain band.Wednesday 21 MarchAreas of rain extending throughout during the morning, then tending to isolated showers from the west during the afternoon and evening and contracting southwards. Mild in the east at first with fresh northerly wind.
