MELBOURNE - Mar 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An active surface trough over the central New South Wales will move northeast, reaching the northeast corner late Saturday. The trough is generating unstable conditions, with showers and storms extending from central districts further northeast during the weekend. A high pressure ridge will strengthen behind the trough during Sunday and Monday, with showers contracting to the coast and adjacent ranges. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers or rain areas over central and northeast districts, with thunderstorms becoming scattered in the afternoon. Rain areas and possible thunderstorms clearing from the south and west early, where becoming mostly sunny. East to northeasterly winds in the northeast, with southwest to southeast winds extending across the remainder.Sunday 18 MarchPossible early showers about the northwest slopes. Isolated showers on and east of the ranges, scattered along parts of the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Monday 19 MarchScattered showers along the northern half of the coast, tending isolated further south. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. East to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 20 MarchScattered showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, tending isolated further south. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
