MELBOURNE - Mar 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over eastern Victoria will clear from the State this evening. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Friday and be centred just to the west of Victoria on Saturday before crossing Tasmania on Sunday and reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Monday, linking with a trough to the north before reaching western Victoria late on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas and possible thunderstorms in the east, clearing. Isolated showers to follow in the south. Cool to mild with moderate west to southwest wind extending throughout.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast, contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Fine over the northern plains. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally low to moderate.Sunday 18 MarchIsolated showers in Gippsland, mainly during the morning, otherwise fine. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Monday 19 MarchFine apart from isolated showers in the far east and some early fog patches in Gippsland. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with a light to moderate northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Tuesday 20 MarchFine for most of the day with warm freshening northerly wind. A band of rain reaching the west later in the afternoon and extending towards central areas at night.
