MELBOURNE - Mar 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over Victoria will clear far eastern Victoria this afternoon as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight. The high will be centred just to the west of Victoria on Saturday, then will pass over Tasmania on Sunday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the east, with some possible heavy falls, contracting eastwards during the afternoon and clearing tonight. Scattered showers elsewhere becoming isolated this afternoon and mostly clearing from the northwest. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.Fire Danger - Generally Low to ModerateSaturday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast and over the southwest. Fine over the northern plains. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 18 MarchIsolated showers in Gippsland, mainly during the morning, otherwise fine. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Monday 19 MarchFine apart from isolated showers in East Gippsland.
