Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards northeast of the state. A trough over the western New South Wales is moving east and is likely to reach central parts later on Friday. The trough passage is generating unstable conditions over the southwest, with showers and storms extending to central and northeastern districts later on Friday and on Saturday. A high pressure ridge will strengthen over the state during Sunday and Monday with showers contracting to the coast and adjacent ranges.
Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas extending across the south, chiefly west of the Divide, with isolated thunderstorms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across central parts, chiefly in the afternoon, with severe storms possible. Isolated showers in the northeast. A south to southwesterly change extending over the west and southeast. Northeasterly winds elsewhere.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers over the northeast, tending scattered in the afternoon. Rain areas and possible thunderstorms clearing from the south and west early, and becoming mostly sunny. Northerly winds in the northeast, with southwest to southeast winds extending across the remainder.Sunday 18 MarchPossible early showers about the northwest slopes. Isolated showers on and east of the ranges, scattered along parts of the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Monday 19 MarchScattered showers along the northern half of the coast, tending isolated further south. Fine in the west.
