Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system south of South Australia will track south southeastwards today and Friday. An associated low pressure trough will move into western Victoria today, reaching central districts overnight, but wont clear far eastern Victoria until Friday afternoon. The next high pressure system will move into the Bight region late on Friday and extend a ridge over Victoria into the weekend. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, tending to rain areas and isolated thunderstorms over central districts tonight. A mild to warm, humid and cloudy day with a fresh to strong north to northwesterly wind, although lighter in the east.Fire Danger -  High to Very High in the west. Low to Moderate in the east.Friday 16 MarchRain and isolated thunderstorms in the north and east, more widespread about the northeast with some possible heavy falls, contracting eastwards during the afternoon and clearing later. Isolated showers to follow on and south of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 17 MarchScattered showers in the far east clearing. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast and southwest. Fine over the northern plains. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 18 MarchIsolated showers in Gippsland, mainly during the morning, otherwise fine. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
