MELBOURNE - Mar 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system south of Kangaroo Island is moving steadily southwards. A high southwest of Western Australia is moving eastwards and will be centred south of the Bight on Friday, after which it will move southeastwards to be centred south of Tasmania on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area to the east of the Mount Lofty Ranges, contracting east and clearing by early afternoon. Isolated showers persisting near southern and western coasts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts, chiefly in the afternoon and evening. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the northeast. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds over the remainder, tending southerly in the west.Friday 16 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting southeastwards during the day. Isolated showers over the Flinders and the pastoral districts south and east of Coober Pedy, tending scattered at times during the morning. Possible thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers about the Lower South East coast. Patchy rain developing northwest of Coober Pedy, tending to areas of rain near the northern border. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 18 MarchPatchy rain over the far northwest will extend south to be northwest of Coober Pedy to Nullarbor. It will be fine and warm to hot elsewhere, becoming hot to very hot in the west with freshening northerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning until midnight Sunday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm. Isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible over parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts. .Monday until WednesdayFine and warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeast winds, freshening in the west with hot temperatures ahead of a milder southerly change moving across the west late in the period.
