MELBOURNE - Mar 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across most of the state. A slow moving trough to the southwest of New South Wales will gradually deepen during Thursday in response to an approaching front. This will generate unstable conditions over the southern and western districts on Thursday. The trough will move further eastwards on Friday as a front moves into the state following it, with showers and storms extending to central and northeastern districts on Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers on the north coast, ranges and northern slopes. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the southwestern two thirds of the state, more likely over the southern inland. Partly cloudy through central parts. North to northeasterly winds, freshening along the southern coast.Thursday 15 MarchIsolated showers, tending scattered on the north coast. The chance of thunderstorms over the inland areas and the southern ranges, most likely during the afternoon. Partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds, turning southwesterly in the far west.Friday 16 MarchScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southwestern half, widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Isolated showers in the northeast. South to southwest change extending through the west and southeast.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers over the eastern districts, tending scattered in the northeast. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 18 MarchIsolated showers east of the ranges, scattered along the coast. Mostly sunny west of the Divide.
