Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over central parts of the State will extend eastwards this evening, reaching the eastern border early Thursday. An associated low over the Bight will move southeastwards as a new high pressure system develops to the southwest of the Bight on Thursday then moves east to be south of Tasmania on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over most parts of the State this afternoon. Showers scattered with isolated thunderstorms over most of the agricultural area during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a milder moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change reaching a line Adelaide to Oodnadatta during the evening.Thursday 15 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Scattered showers and possible thunder on and east of the ranges and south of Hawker, contracting east of the border around sunrise. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of Coober Pedy to Renmark during the afternoon. Possible showers over the remainder. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the northeast, ahead of a moderate to fresh southerly change reaching the far northeast by evening.Friday 16 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting southeastwards during the day. Isolated showers over the Flinders and the pastoral districts south and east of Coober Pedy, tending scattered at times during the morning. Possible thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers about the Lower South East coast. Patchy rain developing northwest of Coober Pedy, tending to areas of rain near the northern border. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 18 MarchPatchy rain over the far northwest will extend south to be northwest of Coober Pedy to Nullarbor. It will be fine and warm to hot elsewhere, becoming hot to very hot in the west with freshening northerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over Eastern Eyre Peninsula, the agricultural area east of Spencer Gulf, the Flinders district and far south of the pastoral districts. Up to 2 mm elsewhere. Local falls of up to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayFine and warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeast winds, freshening in the west with hot to very temperatures ahead of a milder southerly change moving across the west late in the period. Patchy rain extending across western parts of the State late in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
