Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is developing over Bight waters and will track southeastwards on Thursday to pass well south of Tasmania on Friday. An associated trough will move into western Victoria on Thursday then cross eastern parts of the State on Friday morning. The next high pressure system will move into the Bight region late on Friday and extend a ridge over Victoria into the weekend . A weak cold front will cross Tasmania on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayA fine morning apart from local fogs in Gippsland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon, mainly about the ranges and tending to patchy rain in the west during the evening. A warm day with a freshening northerly wind.Fire Danger -  Very high in the west.Thursday 15 MarchPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms developing over most districts, more widespread about the northern slopes of the ranges and clearing over the southwest during the afternoon. Mostly fine in East Gippsland with isolated showers and thunderstorms later. A mild to warm and cloudy day with a fresh to strong north to northwesterly wind.Friday 16 MarchRain and isolated thunderstorms, more widespread about the northeast with some possible heavy falls, contracting eastwards during the afternoon and clearing later. Isolated showers to follow on and south of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 17 MarchScattered showers over east Gippsland clearing. Isolated showers developing elsewhere in the south, mainly near the coast and southwest. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
