Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across most of the state. A slow moving trough to the southwest of New South Wales will gradually deepen during Wednesday and Thursday, generating unstable conditions over the southern districts. The trough and associated cloud band are likely to move across the southwestern half of the state on Thursday, then affect central and northeastern districts on Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers on the north coast, ranges and northern slopes. Possible showers and inland thunderstorms over the southwestern two thirds of the state, more likely over the southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds, freshening along the southern coast.Thursday 15 MarchIsolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Possible showers and thunderstorms in the south, tending to rain in the far southwest later. Partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds, turning southwesterly in the far west.Friday 16 MarchIsolated showers throughout, more likely over the southwestern half with the chance of thunderstorms and tending to rain inland near Victorian border. South to southwest change extending through the west and southeast.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers over the eastern districts, more likely near the coast. Partly cloudy in the northwest, mostly sunny in the southwest. Southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
