Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will extend eastward over western coasts during Wednesday and reach the eastern border early Thursday. An associated low over the Bight early Wednesday will move southeastwards as a new high pressure system develops to the southwest of the Bight then moves east on Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over most parts of the State as a trough extends from the west. Showers becoming scattered over most of the agricultural area during the afternoon or evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a milder moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change reaching a line Adelaide to Oodnadatta around midnight.Thursday 15 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of Coober Pedy to Renmark. Possible showers over the remainder. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the northeast, ahead of a moderate to fresh southerly change reaching the far northeast by evening.Friday 16 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Isolated showers over the Flinders and the pastoral districts south and east of Coober Pedy, tending scattered at times. Possible thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 17 MarchIsolated showers about the southern coasts. Patchy rain developing northwest of Coober Pedy. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over Eastern Eyre Peninsula, the agricultural area east of Spencer Gulf, the Flinders district and far south of the pastoral districts. Up to 2 mm elsewhere. Local falls of up to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayPatchy rain over the far northwest will extend south to be west of Coober Pedy to Nullarbor. It will be fine and warm to hot elsewhere, becoming hot to very hot in the west with freshening northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
