Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will strengthen in the southern Tasman Sea today. A low pressure system will develop off the New South Wales coast during Thursday morning before moving southwards later on Thursday and then drifting eastwards into the Tasman Sea on Friday. The next high pressure system will remain south of Adelaide on Saturday as a weak cold front approaches Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers over Gippsland, becoming widespread in East Gippsland during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms possible. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas and mountain areas mostly clearing during the afternoon. Partly cloudy in the south and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild in the southeast but warm elsewhere. A moderate to fresh southeast wind, strong at times about the coast and over the Alps.Fire Danger -  High in the west.Thursday 8 MarchShowers over Gippsland, tending to rain over East Gippsland later with possible heavy falls. Isolated showers over the central district and near the Otways clearing during the morning. Fine over the remainder of the State, partly cloudy in the south and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild in the east, warm in the north and west. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, strong at times about the Gippsland coast.Friday 9 MarchRain areas over East Gippsland easing. Scattered showers over the remainder of Gippsland. Isolated showers over central districts. Fine over the remainder of the State. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Cloudy in the east, mostly sunny in the north and west. Moderate south to southeasterly winds fresh at times in the east.Saturday 10 MarchIsolated showers on and south of the ranges. Mild and partly cloudy in the south. Warm and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
