MELBOURNE - Mar 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is crossing the southern Tasman Sea.. A high pressure south of the Bight is extending a ridge behind the front and a low pressure trough lies off New South Wales far north coast. The trough will deepen during Tuesday and Wednesday and extend south while the high moves over the southern Tasman Sea.. On Thursday a low will develop within the trough off the south coast as an upper trough approaches from the west. The low is expected to move east during Thursday and Friday as another high moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the north coast. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms on the northwest slopes and plains . Isolated showers on the central coast and south coasts and ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the southeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Wednesday 7 MarchCoastal showers, possibly heavy at times. Isolated showers on the ranges and western slopes. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, increasing on the central and southern coast and ranges later in the day.Thursday 8 MarchScattered showers over the central and southern parts of the coast, tending isolated about the ranges and in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds, possibly fresh to strong on the central and southern coast and ranges.Friday 9 MarchShowers in the southeast, mainly near the Victorian border. Fine elsewhere.
