Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge over Victoria. A cold front will move across Tasmania on Tuesday and the high will move south of Tasmania on Tuesday night. The high will strengthen in the southern Tasman Sea on Wednesday as a low develops off the New South Wales coast. The low will move further southwards on Thursday before moving eastwards into the Tasman sea on Friday as the next high pressure system enters the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges. Fine over the northern plains. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Tuesday 6 MarchIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, becoming more widespread over Gippsland during the afternoon with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Fine and mainly sunny over the northern plains. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger -  High in the northwest.Wednesday 7 MarchScattered showers over Gippsland and the southern Alps. Isolated showers about the Otways clearing during the morning. Fine elsewhere, partly cloudy in the south and mainly sunny in the north. Mild in the southeast but warm elsewhere. A moderate to fresh southeast wind, strong at times about the coast.Thursday 8 MarchScattered showers over Gippsland, tending to rain areas over East Gippsland later. Isolated showers about the Otways clearing during the morning. Fine over the remainder of the State, partly cloudy in the south and mainly sunny in the north. Mild in the east, warm in the north and west. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, strong at times about the Gippsland coast.Friday 9 MarchRain areas over east Gippsland easing. Scattered showers over the remainder of Gippsland. Fine over the remainder of the State. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Cloudy in the east, mostly sunny in the north and west. Moderate south to southeasterly winds fresh at times in the east.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
