MELBOURNE - Mar 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system in the Bight is extending a ridge into New South Wales as a low pressure trough in the northeast of the state moves further northeast. The high is forecast to strengthen during Tuesday and move to the south of Tasmania, while a low develops over the central Tasman Sea late in the day. This low is forecast to move closer to the southern New South Wales coast on Wednesday and Thursday, assisted by the presence of an upper-level system over the region. Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas and possible thunderstorms in the northeast, contracting further northeast overnight. The chance of light showers along the central and southern coasts and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, and southeast to southwest winds elsewhere.Tuesday 6 MarchPatchy morning rain in the northeast, easing. Isolated showers on the central and southern coast and ranges, possibly extending to southwest slopes in the afternoon or evening. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast inland, and some late thunder in the far southeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southerly winds.Wednesday 7 MarchCoastal showers, possibly heavy at times. Isolated showers on the ranges and western slopes. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, increasing on the central and southern coast and ranges later in the day.Thursday 8 MarchScattered showers over the central and southern parts of the coast, tending isolated about the ranges and in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere.
