MELBOURNE - Mar 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is moving eastwards over the Tasman sea. A weak low is south of Kangaroo Island and will move southeastwards and deepen and is expected to be centred south of Tasmania around midday on Sunday. A new high will develop west of the Bight early Sunday and then move southeastwards to be centred south of Tasmania on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of rain near the eastern border, contracting eastwards, with isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Isolated showers over the remainder, but fine over the Northwest Pastoral northwest of about Woomera. Isolated thunderstorms near southern and western coasts east of Ceduna. Mild with mainly moderate southeast to southwesterly winds becoming general..Sunday 4 MarchAreas of rain in the far northeast, becoming patchy in the evening. Isolated showers over the agricultural area and western coasts. Early fog patches over the northern agricultural area, Flinders and Northeast Pastoral districts. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm throughout with moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.Monday 5 MarchPatchy rain in the far northeast clearing by late afternoon. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area. Early fog patches over the northern agricultural area and West Coast district. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 6 MarchFine apart from isolated showers near southern coasts. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southeast to east winds.Wednesday 7 MarchFine and mild to warm. Mainly moderate southeast to east winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the Northeast Pastoral, increasing to 10 to 30 mm in the far northeast. No rainfall is expected over the Northwest Pastoral district northwest of Woomera, with 1 to 2 mm over the rest of the State, increasing to 2 to 10 mm over remaining eastern border areas.Thursday until SaturdayFine and mild to warm.
