MELBOURNE - Mar 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving low pressure trough extends from northwestern to southeastern Australia. Humid air from the tropics is feeding into this trough, generating a broad rainband. This system will continue to bring rain to New South Wales during the weekend, primarily across central and southern parts. During Sunday a low will develop just to the south in response to an approaching upper-level system. The low and the trough are then expected to move toward the Tasman Sea late Sunday and Monday as a high pressure system moves south of the Bight and extends a ridge into New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers easing in the northeast. Areas of rain throughout remaining districts, with locally heavy falls likely in southeastern and central parts, and rain tending patchy in the southwest. North to northwesterly winds in the west, and east to northeasterly winds in the east.Sunday 4 MarchMostly fine in the northeast. Areas of rain remainder, with possible locally heavy falls in the southeastern and northwestern parts. Rain tending patchy in the far southwest and clearing later. A west to southwest change in the southwest, and northerly winds elsewhere.Monday 5 MarchFine across the southern inland. Rain areas with possible thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds extending throughout.Tuesday 6 MarchScattered showers in the northeast, easing. Isolated showers along the remainder of the coast. Fine elsewhere.
