Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the northeast of the State will move slowly northeastwards as a high pressure system southwest of the Bight strengthens and moves east over the next few days. An upper level trough will maintain a band of rain and isolated thunderstorms over the northeast of the State, clearing later in the weekend. .
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the Northeast Pastoral district with possible locally heavy falls. Isolated showers over the remainder. Mild with fresh southeasterly winds, strong at times about the coasts.Friday 2 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Leigh Creek to Oodnadatta with possible locally heavy falls. Isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Isolated showers over the remainder, becoming scattered over Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast district. Isolated thunderstorms near the coast west of Ceduna. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 3 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Leigh Creek to Oodnadatta with possible locally heavy falls, contracting northeastwards during the day to the far northeast by midnight. Isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Isolated showers over the remainder, but fine over the Northwest Pastoral northwest of about Port Augusta. Showers increasing to scattered with isolated thunderstorms near southern and western coasts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.Sunday 4 MarchAreas of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Isolated showers over the agricultural area and western coasts. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm throughout with moderate to fresh southeast to southwesterly winds.Monday 5 MarchPatchy rain in the far northeast clearing by evening. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon until midnight Monday are expected to be 30 to 80 mm northeast of about Broken Hill to Leigh Creek to Oodnadatta. 1 to 5 mm is expected over the remainder, increasing to 5 to 10 mm near southern and western coasts.Tuesday until ThursdayFine for the period apart from isolated showers near southern coasts on Tuesday. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
